Live Music and Free Entertainment make the State Fair a Night Life Destination
August 2, 2012, Sedalia, MO – Live music and free entertainment shows will rock fairgoers after the sun sets. Missouri State Fair Director Mark Wolfe announced the Budweiser Stage line-up today, including returning fan favorites Nace Brothers, 2 Buck Drunk and Battle of the Bands. The Missouri State Fair Idol competition is also back in 2012.
“Free, live music is an exciting part of the State Fair’s commitment to affordable fun, which is why we have a schedule of talented artists again this year to perform on the Budweiser Stage,” said Wolfe. “The $5-after-5 p.m. gate admission special being offered Aug. 12-15 will make evening visits even more economical.”
Up-and-coming artists performing at 9 p.m. on this stage include Nace Brothers Aug. 9-12, Battle of the Bands Aug. 13-15, Mad Hoss Jackson Aug. 16, 2 Buck Drunk Aug. 17 and Full Moon Band Aug. 18.
The Full Moon Band will be the last 9 p.m. Budweiser Stage performance of the Fair. The five-member classic rock band is known for their rich musical repertoire that reaches back to the 1960s.
Other bands will perform at 2 p.m. and 6 p.m. on the Budweiser Stage Aug. 9-18, and the Missouri State Fair Idol contest will be at 4 p.m. daily with the finals at 2 p.m. Aug. 19. The full line-up is available at www.mostatefair.com/budweiser-stage.
The State Fair will also provide a variety of free, professional entertainment with show start times offered from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Vendor buildings will be open 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. most days, offering evening visitors a full fair experience.
New, free entertainment this year will include The Sweeney Family Band Country Comedy Review, Sea Lion Splash, Nerveless Nocks, See the Circus Be the Circus, Steve Gryb the Pied Piper of Percussion, In Capable Hands, Six Appeal, New Odyssey and Pint Size Polkas.
The world-famous thrill performers from Switzerland, Nerveless Nocks, are bringing their high-octane stunts to the State Fair this year. The adventurous acrobats will perform at 12, 3:30 and 7 p.m. Aug. 9-18 and 12 and 3:30 p.m. Aug. 19, located north of the carnival midway entrance. Free entertainment returning this year will include Cowboy Mounted Shooting, world-renowned Budweiser Clydesdales, Ronald McDonald, Children’s Barnyard, Hedrick’s Pig Races and Hedrick’s Exotic Animal Petting Zoo.
Cowboy Mounted Shooting will be an exciting competition of skilled horsemanship and firearms. Mounted riders use two .45 caliber single action revolvers each loaded with five rounds of specially prepared blank ammunition. Shows are at 6:30 p.m. Aug. 9-10 in the Mathewson Exhibition Center.
The world-renowned Budweiser Clydesdales will make their debut at the 2012 State Fair from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Aug. 15, stabled east of the Mathewson Exhibition Center. The majestic team will be featured in the vintage fire equipment parade at 1 p.m. Aug. 16, and will open the draft horse shows at 6 p.m. Aug. 17-18 and at 1 p.m. Aug. 19. They will parade the fairgrounds after each of those shows.
