10 Things to do on the MSF Grounds Before the Big Hurrah

There’s a lot that goes on at the Missouri State Fairgrounds before the actual Fair! Many might think it is vacant with the gates chained shMissouri State Fair Opening Gateut. Surprisingly, the fairgrounds continue to bustle with events and people working here all year long. There are plenty of fun and interesting activities to do on the grounds before the Fair even begins!

  1. Walk the Mathewson Exhibition Center

Take a nice long walk around the AIR CONDITIONED hall cirHighway Gardencling the arena.

2. Have a picnic in the MoDOT Highway Gardens

The Highway Gardens is the perfect place to sit, relax and enjoy! The beauty and tranquility of this cozy little spot will do your body good!

3. Walk your dog around the grounds

While the Fair is practically empty, it is the perfect place to take your little nugget for a stroll.

4. Take your children to the playground

The Kid’s Stage also happens to be by a nice playground and it is the perfect place to take your children to release their energy while you unwind!Children's Park Equipment

5. Ride your bike on the grounds

If walking the Mathewson Exhibition Center isn’t for you, take a bike ride around the grounds.

6. Attend an Event

7. Get your driver’s permit/license

You can actually get your driver’s permit and license on the fairgrounds at the Highway Patrol Office located at the Centennial Gate Entrance.

8. Camp on the State Fairgrounds

The campgrounds surrounding the fair are open all year! Throughout the week you can see people camping and enjoying the grounds!

9. Plan an Event to Take Place on the Fairgrounds

10. Buy & Pick-up State Fair Concert Tickets on the Grounds

Not only is Ticketmaster the place to get your State Fair concert tickets, but Ticket Booth you can also come to the ticket office to find tickets! The box office is open, and their hours include:

June 26 – Aug 3, noon to 6 p.m., Monday – Friday

Closed July 4 Holiday

Hours: Aug 6 – 8  9 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Hours: Aug 9 – 19, 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., daily

Hours are subject to change based on holidays and other events
