Meet the 2017 Interns

Welcome back! Since I introduced myself in the last entry, I would now like to take the time to introduce the rest of the Marketing intern team. These ladies have already been working hard to make the 2017 Missouri State Fair a success.

Molly Espey– Molly is from Warrensburg, MO and she studies public relations at the University of Central Missouri. When she’s not reading or spending time with her family and fiancé, Molly generously donates her time at the Survival Adult Abuse Center in her hometown.

Molly’s parents had their first date at the Missouri State Fair in 1992 and married a year later, so the Fair is very special to her. This connection and the Fair’s corndogs keep her coming back year after year. Molly is excited to gain a behind the scenes perspective and can’t wait to see how this experience prepares her for life after she graduates in December.MSF 2017 Intern Molly

Sarah Kwast– Sarah attends Missouri State University and studies agriculture business with an emphasis in marketing and sales. She is an active member of Sigma Alpha professional agriculture sorority. Last year, Sarah’s passion for politics and policy took her to the state capitol where she interned with Senator Brian Munzlinger. In her hometown of Sullivan, MO, she runs a barbeque food truck and catering company with her dad.

Sarah has never attended the Missouri State Fair, so she is eager to experience it for the first time. She is already working hard to make her first Fair our best one yet.MSF 2017 Intern Sarah

Darby Schmidt- Darby studies agricultural economics with a specialty in marketing at Kansas State University. She is a member of the KSU Block and Bridle Club, serves as a College of Agriculture Ambassador and enjoys showing livestock. Darby is no stranger to the Missouri State Fair- each year, she travels here from her home in Defiance, MO to camp with family and friends and show pigs and goats with 4-H.

This is Darby’s second year interning with the MSF Marketing Department, making her an excellent resource to our intern team. While she had a great time at the 2016 Fair, Darby is excited to learn even more this summer!MSF 2017 Intern Darby

This year’s interns come from diverse backgrounds, allowing us each to bring something different to the 2017 Fair. Our team is hard-working, enthusiastic and eager to help wherever we can. We are anxiously awaiting August and can’t wait to “Come Home” to the Fair that we are each so passionate about. Check back to “Behind the Scenes” to find blog posts written by other members of the intern team!
