Artists make Headlines before Performing at Missouri State Fair
July 27, 2012, Sedalia, MO – Two country music artists are bringing award-worthy releases with them on their way to the Missouri State Fair. Hank Williams, Jr.’s new “Old School, New Rules” album is the top-selling independent album in the country, debuting at No. 4 on Billboard’s Country Albums chart and No. 12 on Billboard’s Top U.S. Albums chart, the highest of the country legend’s career. Colt Ford will release the anticipated single, “Back,” Aug. 7. The artists will perform at 7:30 Aug. 18 and Aug. 16, respectively, at the Pepsi Grandstand.
“This news highlights the caliber of music offered at the State Fair,” said Missouri State Fair Director Mark Wolfe. “Fairgoers have the chance to see some of the top performers in the country on one stage over the 11-day Fair.”
Hank Williams, Jr. has released more than 70 studio albums in almost 50 years, but “Old School, New Rules” was his first under the new label imprint Bocephus Records. The accomplished artist acknowledged that his fans’ voices encouraged the writing process for him.
Colt Ford’s latest release, “Declaration of Independence,” debuts Aug. 7. The album includes the new single “Back” featuring Jake Owen, who headlines Colt Ford’s concert Aug. 16. “Declaration of Independence” also includes a song featuring Montgomery Gentry, another State Fair performer.
This year’s line-up also includes the Randy Rogers Band and Wade Bowen Aug. 9; Justin Moore and Josh Thompson Aug. 10; Montgomery Gentry and 38 Special Aug. 11; Where the Action is Tour starring Paul Revere and the Raiders with special guests Gary Lewis and The Playboys Aug. 14; Country Gold Tour Aug. 15; and Larry the Cable Guy and Reno Collier Aug. 17. All shows start a 7:30 p.m.
