MEC Git-R-Done Friday Promotes Fun and Energy Efficiency
July 31, 2012, Sedalia, MO – The Missouri State Fair is taking the “Git-R-Done” catch-phrase, popularized by Larry the Cable Guy, and extending it to activities and events to be held Friday, Aug. 17. The day will culminate with comedy acts by Larry the Cable Guy and Reno Collier at 7:30 p.m. at the Pepsi Grandstand.
“We are planning to have some fun with this event day,” said Missouri State Fair Director Mark Wolfe. “Two contests will be held, including the Git-R-Done Challenge and Larry the Cable Guy Lookalike Contest.”
Fairgoers can compete in the Git-R-Done Challenge, a free, light-hearted scavenger hunt for the top 10 things to do at the Missouri State Fair. The 10-item checklist is available online at www.mostatefair.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/07/git-r-done-challenge.pdf, and will be available at the Fair’s information booths Aug. 17. The winner of the contest will receive 22 admission tickets to the 2013 Fair. Completed lists will be collected at 5:30 p.m. at the Touchstone Energy Stage.
Contestants entering the free Lookalike Contest will be judged first on appearance, followed by humor and audience feedback, to determine who best embodies the spirit of Larry the Cable Guy. This contest will be held at 6 p.m. Aug. 17 on the Touchstone Energy Stage, with the winner receiving two passes to meet Larry the Cable Guy.
Many concessionaires will be offering food specials and challenges on Git-R-Done Friday. One vendor will be taking names of those who can devour a two-pound burger. Achievers will be entered in a drawing to win a free meal for a family of four. A list of participating vendors and their specials will be available at the Fair’s information booths Aug. 17.
Missouri Electric Cooperatives, sponsor of Git-R-Done Friday, will also have tips on energy-efficient home updates and a free compact fluorescent light bulb for visitors to the MEC Building, while supplies last Friday.
Tickets to the comedy show start at $25 and can be purchased at Ticketmaster.com or at the Fair’s Box Office, open noon to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday.
