Come Home for Youth in Agriculture Day, Saturday, Aug. 17!
Celebrate Youth in Agriculture on Saturday, Aug. 17 at the Missouri State Fair! The day is sponsored by the Missouri Department of Agriculture, and will feature special offers for youth at select concessions and vendors, as well as $1 off adult gate admission with coupons available at Missouri County Extension offices.
The highlight of Youth in Agriculture Day is the annual Sale of Champions at 1:30 p.m. in the Lowell Mohler Assembly Hall. The Sale of Champions auction event recognizes the accomplishments of twelve young agriculturalists and their top tier livestock projects: Grand Champion and Reserve Grand Champion steers, barrows, lambs, meat goats, pen of chickens, and pen of rabbits from 4-H and FFA livestock shows. This is an event that you won’t want to miss! Show your support to our youth in agriculture for all their hard work!
Another highly anticipated event on Saturday, Aug. 17 are the Draft Horse Hitchescompetitions in the Mathewson Exhibition Center. The World Renowned Budweiser Clydesdales will kick off this show starting at 6 p.m. with competition classes to follow. The popular Show-Me Classic class will complete the show featuring six-horse hitches entries in the show ring.

August 18 is Family Preparedness/Half Price Day
Enjoy the final day of the 2019 Missouri State Fair by receiving half price adult admission at the gate and $1 admission for children ages 6-12! Select vendors and concession stands will also have half priced deals all day.
Get your tickets now for the Sprint Car and Late Models races in the Pepsi Grandstand on Aug. 18 starting with Hot Laps at 6 p.m. and Heat Races at 7 p.m. Gear up to watch the Demolition Derby starting at 2 p.m. in the State Fair Arena, sponsored by Husqvarna. Tickets on sale now.

Grand and Reserve Grand Champion Pen of Rabbits
(SEDALIA, Mo.) – Gunnar Fisher, son of Devin and Shane Fisher, is the exhibitor of the 2019 Grand Champion Market Pen of Rabbits at the Missouri State Fair. Gunnar is from Verona, and is a member of the Aurora FFA Chapter. Gunnar’s prize-winning New Zealand Black market pen of rabbits weighed an average of 4.75 pounds.
The Reserve Grand Champion Market Pen of Rabbits honor went to Codi Viehmann of New Florence. She is the daughter of James and Donna Viehmann and is a member of the Montgomery County FFA Chapter. Codi’s Californian market pen of rabbits weighed an average of 5.1 pounds.
On Aug. 17, both Gunnar and Codi will sell their market pen of rabbits in two of 12 lots offered in the Missouri State Fair Sale of Champions. Proceeds from the annual sale benefit both the winning exhibitors and the Missouri State Fair Youth in Agriculture (YIA) Scholarship Program.
Many livestock exhibitors will work toward earning a place in the ring at the time-honored Sale of Champions Auction. Grand Champion and Reserve Grand Champion Steers, Barrows, Lambs, Meat Goats, Pens of Chickens and Pens of Rabbits will be featured in the auction, which will be held at 1:30 p.m., Saturday, Aug. 17, in the Lowell Mohler Assembly Hall. The entire auction will be broadcast live by KMMO radio online; and by KRLI radio online and on their FM station 103.9FM; on KMZU radio online and live updates on their FM station 100.7FM. The auction will also be live on the Missouri Department of Agriculture’s Facebook page.
Through the generous support of YIA sponsors and the Missouri State Fair Foundation, the Missouri State Fair is able to award scholarships each year to Missouri youth. Last year, forty $1,500 scholarships, one supreme $2,500 scholarship, sponsored by Sydenstricker John Deere/Sydenstricker Genetics, and one $5,000 platinum scholarship offered by YIA supporters were awarded to youth across Missouri. Since 1992, the YIA committee has awarded 648 scholarships totaling $684,000.
