Missouri State Fair Says “Go 4 It!”

(SEDALIA, Mo.) – Fair officials recently unveiled the theme “Go 4 It!” for the 2008 Missouri State Fair. The slogan will drive the Fair’s media and advertising campaign for the 11-day event August 7-17.

Fair Director Marion Lucas said, “The theme “Go 4 It!” expresses the enthusiasm my staff and I feel about the 2008 Fair. We want Missourians to know that they will experience new and exciting entertainment this year, and that we are making it even more affordable by offering special promotions.”

Among the new events at the August fair will be The Amazing Anastasini Circus featuring 3 free shows daily. “This is a professional stand-alone event that fairgoers can attend at no additional fee once on the grounds,” Lucas said. “In addition to the circus, there will be a human cannonball shot from a cannon in front of the Pepsi Grandstand. Almost every professional piece of entertainment will be new to the Fair in 2008.”

Lucas said that parents will find that this year’s fair is geared to improving the family experience. Not only has a large portion of the free entertainment budget been earmarked to include a new kids’ zone, Lucas said that the former FFA Building is being remodeled to provide a large private nursing area for mothers with infants and small children. The building will also house a new handicap accessible restroom.

“The Missouri State Fair has been a family tradition for many people across the state,” Lucas said. “I want to do what I can to perpetuate the value of the fair experience so that future generations can also claim it as a favorite family memory.”

New promotions have also been developed for the fair this year, according to Lucas. Opening day, Thursday, August 7, fairgoers will again walk through the gate for $1 adult admission. Another opportunity for fantastic savings is $2 adult admission on the second Thursday, August 14. Children age 12 and under are always free, he said.

Regular daily senior admission tickets have been decreased to $6, and a new $5 admission ticket after 5 o’clock will be available to improve the value of evening visits to the fairgrounds.
