Grand Champion and Reserve Grand Champion Chickens Announced
(SEDALIA, Mo.) – Grace Madsen, daughter of Dwight and Karen Madsen of Willard, Mo., was named the 2007 Grand Champion and Reserve Grand Champion Market Pen of Chickens at the Missouri State Fair. Her prize-winning pens of Cornish Cross birds weighed 6 and 5 pounds. Madsen will be a member this fall of the Willard FFA Chapter.
On August 18th, 2007, Madsen’s Market Pen’s of Chickens will be two of the 12 lots offered in the 2007 Youth in Agriculture Sale of Champions. Proceeds from the annual sale benefit both the winners and the Missouri State Fair Youth in Agriculture Scholarship Program.
Due to the generous support of Youth in Agriculture sponsors, the Missouri State Fair is able to award scholarships to Missouri youth pursuing a degree in an agriculture-related field. Last year, twenty five $1,000 scholarships and one supreme $2,500 scholarship were awarded.
