Tammie Nichols, Marketing & Public Relations Specialist FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: August 15, 2007 Grand Champion and Reserve Grand Champion Market Pen of Rabbits Announced(SEDALIA, Mo.) – Ty Missey, son of Jim and Diane Missey of O’Fallon, Mo., was named the winner of the 2007 Grand Champion Market Pen of Rabbits at the Missouri State Fair. His prize-winning pen of New Zealand’s weighed 5lbs each for a total of 15 pounds. Missey is a member of the Wentzville 4-H Club. The Reserve Grand Champion Market Pen of Rabbits went to Kimberly Deutsch, daughter of Jim and Karen Deutsch of Marshall, Mo. Her pen of Californian’s averaged 4 ½ pounds each. Deutsch is a member of the Bizy Beavers 4-H Club. On August 18, 2007, Missey and Deutsch’s Market Pen of Rabbits will be two of the 12 lots offered in the 2007 Youth in Agriculture Sale of Champions. Proceeds from the annual sale benefit both the winners and the Missouri State Fair Youth in Agriculture Scholarship Program. Due to the generous support of Youth in Agriculture sponsors, the Missouri State Fair is able to award scholarships to Missouri youth pursuing a degree in an agriculture-related field. Last year, twenty five $1,000 scholarships and one supreme $2,500 scholarship were awarded.
