Tammie Nichols, Marketing & Public Relations Specialist FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: August 21, 2007 Kayla Mitchell Sells Grand Champion Market Hog at Sale of Champions(SEDALIA, Mo.) – Youth in Agriculture Day was celebrated Saturday, August 18, at the 2007 Missouri State Fair, with the highlight being yet another record setting Sale of Champions auction which totaled over $137,700. Kayla Mitchell, of Clinton, MO, sold her Champion Market Hog at the Missouri State Fair. She is the daughter of Charley and Angela Mitchell. The 290 pound crossbred Hog was purchased for $18,000 by Farmland Foods, Inc., Kingsville Livestock Market and MU Independent Aggies and her hometown supporter which include Archie Livestock, DeOrnillos Livestock, Holt House Builders, Homestead Electronics, Jim Falk Motors, Ken Feed, Kingsville Livestock Market, Max Motors, Mitchell Ranch 4C, Premier Farm and Ranch, Prime Time Agri-Marketing, Quad County Vet, Remer Meat Co., Show Me Trailers, Sutton Trucking, Tyrone’s Body Shop and UMB Bank. Her hog was donated to the MU Independent Aggies. Proceeds from the annual sale benefit both the winners and the Missouri State Fair Scholarship Foundation. Due to the generous support of Youth in Agriculture sponsors, the Missouri State Fair is able to award scholarships to Missouri youth pursuing a degree in an agriculture-related field. |
