Tammie Nichols, Marketing & Public Relations Specialist FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: August 21, 2007 Brady Minear Sells the Grand Champion Lamb at Sale of Champions(SEDALIA, Mo.) – Youth in Agriculture Day was celebrated Saturday, August 18 at the 2007 Missouri State Fair, with the highlight being yet another record setting Sale of Champions auction which totaled over $137,700. Brady Minear, of Livonia, sold the Grand Champion Lamb at the Missouri State Fair. He is the son of Brent and Margaret Minear. The 131 pound Crossbred lamb was purchased for $12,200 by Bank Midwest and his hometown supporters which include: Brett Loughead- Sullivan Show Supply, Edje Technology, Farmers Bank of Northern Missouri, Putnam County MFA, Green City Livestock, McCutchen & Son Insurance, Memphis Farm and Home, Minear Appraisal Service, Moorman Show Tec Feed, Burfeind Farms, Inc., Jim Robertson Chevrolet, Putnam County State Bank and Fowler Elevator Inc. His animal was donated to the Missouri 4-H Foundation. Proceeds from the annual sale benefit both the winners and the Missouri State Fair Scholarship Foundation. Due to the generous support of Youth in Agriculture sponsors, the Missouri State Fair is able to award scholarships to Missouri youth pursuing a degree in an agriculture-related field. Last year, the committee was able to award twenty five $1,000 scholarships and one supreme $2,500 scholarship. |
