Tammie Nichols, Marketing & Public Relations Specialist FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: August 21, 2007 Tyler McVay Sells the Grand Champion Meat Goat at Sale of Champions(SEDALIA, Mo.) – Youth in Agriculture Day was celebrated Saturday, August 18 at the 2007 Missouri State Fair, with the highlight being yet another record setting Sale of Champions auction which totaled over $137,700. Tyler McVay, of Kirksville, sold his Champion Meat Goat at the 2007 Missouri State Fair Sale of Champions. His parents are Jeff & Denise McVay and T.J. and Matt Beeker. The Boar Goat was purchased for $9,400 by Briarwood Angus Farms, Bank Midwest and his hometown supporters which include: Bank of Kirksville, Bob and Gloria McVay, Braco, Charlotte Baily, Edje Website, Gary and Joanne Thomson, Gary Perkins, Golden Eagle, Hudson Club Lambs, Jeff and Denise McVay, Judy Duden, Mike and Cindy Whitlock, Mike Klinger, Charlie Norris, Moorman Show Tec Feed, Putnam County Bank, Richardson Supermarket, Rodman Farm Supply, Shop and Talk, Tom and Gloria Klinger, Travis Nole Funeral Home, UMB Bank, and Yellow Creek Reality. Tyler’s goat was donated to the University of Missouri Tiger Training Table. Proceeds from the annual sale benefit both the winners and the Missouri State Fair Scholarship Foundation. Due to the generous support of Youth in Agriculture sponsors, the Missouri State Fair is able to award scholarships to Missouri youth pursuing a degree in an agriculture-related field. Last year, the committee was able to award twenty five $1,000 scholarships and one supreme $2,500 scholarship. |
