Tammie Nichols, Marketing & Public Relations Specialist FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: August 21, 2007 Sale of Champions 2007 Results(SEDALIA, Mo.) – Youth in Agriculture Day was celebrated Saturday, August 18 at the 2007 Missouri State Fair, with the highlight being yet another record setting Sale of Champions auction which totaled over $137,700. Ty Missey, O’Fallon, sold his Grand Champion Pen of Meat Rabbits at the Missouri State Fair Sale of Champions. He is the son of Jim and Diane Missey. The New Zealand rabbits were purchased for $5,200 by Heartland Farm and Home and his hometown supporters who include: Allen Auction, Moorman Show Tec Feed, St. Charles County Fair Board and Vehige Enterprises Inc., and ADM Advance Nutrition. Ty’s rabbits were donated to Heartland Farm and Home. Proceeds from the annual sale benefit both the winners and the Missouri State Fair Scholarship Foundation. Due to the generous support of Youth in Agriculture sponsors, the Missouri State Fair is able to award scholarships to Missouri youth pursuing a degree in an agriculture-related field. Last year, the committee was able to award twenty five $1,000 scholarships and one supreme $2,500 scholarship. |
