Tammie Nichols, Marketing & Public Relations Specialist FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: August 21, 2007 Kimberlee Gieseker Sells the Reserve Grand Champion Barrow at Sale of Champions(SEDALIA, Mo.) – Youth in Agriculture Day was celebrated Saturday, August 18, at the 2007 Missouri State Fair, with the highlight being yet another record setting Sale of Champions auction which totaled over $137,700. Kimberlee Gieseker, of Martinsburg, sold her Reserve Grand Champion Barrow at the Sale of Champions on Saturday. She is the daughter of Tim and Cathy Gieseker. The 277 pound crossbred Hog was purchased for $20,000 by Edward Jones and Associates and her hometown supporters which include Audrain Truck and Trailer, C&G Feeds, Coldwell Bankers, Dayne’s Waste Disposal Inc., Fennewald Custom Welding, Inc., Heimer & Associates, Heimer Hampshires, Henke Auction Service, Jimmy and Shelly Hunt, Meyers Implement, Mid-Mo Truck and Trailer, Miller Tire of Mexico, Moorman Show Tec Feed, Robinson Cattle Co., Roger Sutter Family, Smith Landscaping, Steve and Kathy Curtis, T.J. Gieseker Trucking, Tiger Country Genetics, Van Matre and Krueger, Don Hudson Vet Clinic and Wortmann Buildings. Kimberlee’s hog was donated to the MU Independent Aggies. Proceeds from the annual sale benefit both the winners and the Missouri State Fair Scholarship Foundation. Due to the generous support of Youth in Agriculture sponsors, the Missouri State Fair is able to award scholarships to Missouri youth pursuing a degree in an agriculture-related field. Last year, the committee was able to award twenty five $1,000 scholarships and one supreme $2,500 scholarship. |
