Celebrate Missouri Department of Conservation Day

Fairgoers can come to the Missouri State Fair on Friday, Aug. 12, for Missouri Department of Conservation Day. Fairgoers will enjoy visiting the Conservation Building from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. for live animal exhibits and demonstrations.

There are lots of other great activities planned for Aug. 12 including:

  • Travis Marvin will be performing at 2 p.m. and 6 p.m. and Members Only will perform at 9 p.m. on the Budweiser Stage.
  • Homegrown Singer Contest Preliminary Round, sponsored by Bimbo Bakeries USA, at 4 p.m. on the Budweiser Stage.
  • The Fair is full of free entertainment like Rock-It the Robot, Professor Farquar and Polecat Annie strolling the grounds. Don’t miss the BMX Pros Trick Team, sponsored by AOK RV’s, or the Paul Bunyan Lumberjack Show! Be sure to catch The Groovy Guy Show, Women of Rock, or the Animal Calling Contest on the Touchstone Energy Stage.
  • Livestock shows include the market barrow show, poultry, beef cattle, lamb and draft mule shows and 4-H/FFA swine judging.
  • Competitive events include daylily, lily, African violet and fairy garden shows, dairy products contest, barbecue contest, and home economics foods contests.
  • Military Flag Retreat Ceremony, sponsored by Capital Materials, Starline Brass and Retrieving Freedom, at 5:30 p.m. in front of the Historic Administration Building.
  • The World-Famous Budweiser Clydesdales will be on display and parade the grounds at 5:30 p.m.
  • Cowboy Mounted Shooting, sponsored by Starline Brass, qualifying rounds continuing from Aug. 11 start at 2 p.m. and the final round begins at 5 p.m. in the Mathewson Exhibition Center.
  • MRCA Show-Me State Rodeo at 7 p.m. in the State Fair Arena; tickets available for purchase online or at the State Fair Box Office.
  • Tesla with Fuel at 7:30 p.m. in the State Fair Grandstand, presented by CFM Insurance; tickets available online or at the State Fair Box Office.

Visit the Fair on Missouri Electric Cooperatives Day, Aug 19

Friday, Aug. 19, is Missouri Electric Cooperatives Day at the Missouri State Fair. The first 1,500 visitors to the MEC Building on this day will receive a free LED light bulb. Activities taking place on Aug. 19 include:

  • Honky Tonk Dream will be taking the Budweiser Stage at 2 p.m. and 6 p.m. followed by Dirt Road Addiction at 9 p.m.
  • Homegrown Singer Contest Semifinal Round, sponsored by Bimbo Bakeries USA, at 4 p.m. on the Budweiser Stage.
  • Draft horse hitches will compete in the Mathewson Exhibition Center at 6 p.m.
  • Livestock shows include breeding swine, beef and dairy cattle, gypsy horse, dairy goat, and dairy goat milking contest.
  • The World-Famous Budweiser Clydesdales will be on display and then open the draft horse hitches show before parading the grounds around 6:15 p.m.
  • Competitive events include the dahlia show, rabbit cooking contest, and Honeysuckle white turkey recipe contest.
  • Military Flag Retreat Ceremony, sponsored by Capital Materials, Starline Brass and Retrieving Freedom, at 5:30 p.m. in front of the Historic Administration Building.
  • Bull Riding Competition at 8 p.m. in the State Fair Arena; tickets available for purchase online or at the State Fair Box Office.
  • KC and The Sunshine Band with The Four Tops at 7:30 p.m. in the State Fair Grandstand, presented by CFM Insurance; tickets available online or at the State Fair Box Office.

Equine Shows Start This Week

The 4-H and FFA Horse Show begins this week and marks the beginning of many equine shows and competitions held at the Missouri State Fair.

The 4-H and FFA Horse Show will take place July 28-31 in the Mathewson Exhibition Center, Donnelly Area and Coliseum. Visit the online Equine Schedule for complete show information, including start times and classes.

Other equine shows happening at the 2022 Fair begin on Friday, Aug. 12, and continue through Sunday, Aug. 21. A complete schedule for all equine events can be found in the online Equine Schedule.

The World-Famous Budweiser Clydesdales will be on display east of the Mathewson Exhibition Center. They will be in the Opening Day Parade which starts at 6 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 11 and will parade the grounds starting at 5:30 p.m. on Aug. 12-14. On Aug 18-20 they will open the Draft Horse Shows in the Mathewson Exhibition Center and then parade the grounds. Their final parade will take place at 2 p.m. on the Fair’s final day, Aug. 21.
