Salute to Our Heroes Opening Weekend
Join us in celebrating our law enforcement, firefighter and military heroes during Opening Weekend of the 2023 Missouri State Fair!
Law Enforcement / Firefighter Appreciation Day, sponsored by Pepsi, is Saturday, Aug. 12. Law Enforcement, Firefighters, EMTs, and Paramedics will receive FREE gate admission to the Fair with appropriate I.D. and $1 admission for their immediate family members. A special thank you to the Missouri Highway Patrol, who oversees security on the Fairgrounds, and the Missouri State Fair Fire Department (MSFFD), who provides fire and medical response 24/7 during the Fair. The MSFFD also provides demonstrations, sponsored by Ditzfeld Transfer, Inc., for fairgoers during the Fair. Learn more about the MSFFD on our website.
Sunday, Aug. 13 is Military Appreciation Day, sponsored by GoNetspeed. The Fair is proud to honor our military men and women with FREE gate admission for active military, veterans and delayed entry recruits with appropriate I.D. and $1 admission for their immediate family members. A Military Resource Fair will take place from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. just east of the Mathewson Exhibition Center and a Military Appreciation Ceremony will take place at 2 p.m. inside the Mathewson Exhibition Center.
The Missouri State Fair is will honor our military service men and women daily during the Military Flag Retreat Ceremony, sponsored by Capital Materials, Retrieving Freedom, Inc. and Starline Brass. The ceremony will take place at 5:15 p.m. on Aug. 10 and at 5:30 p.m., Aug 11-20 in front of the Historic Administration Building. The State Fair has been a Missouri tradition since 1901 – forming a connection between family, friends, and even strangers! This year, we are asking our fairgoers to share their favorite Missouri State Fair traditions, which will be showcased on our social media and around the Fairgrounds!
We’re gathering our fairgoers favorite traditions – from small traditions, such as visiting the petting zoo to bigger traditions, like attending the Fair every day with your family and friends. Whatever your tradition may be, we want to know all about it!
Complete the form at the link below to share your Missouri State Fair traditions and photos. Submit them by July 21st to be entered to win two tickets to each of the 2023 Missouri State Fair concerts. The winner will be selected at random and notified via email.

- Missouri Grown Traditions Scavenger Hunt: We have been asking our fairgoers to submit their favorite Fair traditions. Now, we are taking those traditions and making a scavenger hunt so others can enjoy them, too, during their visit to the 2023 Missouri State Fair! Head to any Information Center on the fairgrounds or the Missouri Grown Market in the Agriculture Building during your Fair visit and pickup a scavenger hunt check-list. Complete all the items on the scavenger hunt and return the completed check-list to the Missouri Grown Market to receive a coupon redeemable at the Market. After the Fair, everyone that completed the scavenger hunt will be entered in a drawing to win two tickets to each of the Fair’s 2024 concerts! Happy hunting!
- CFM Selfie Spots: STOP. Let me take a selfie! Snap a picture with one of the CFM selfie spots scattered throughout the Fairgrounds. Post it using #MyMSFSelfie for a chance to be the “Selfie Spot Selfie” of the day and win a free custom CFM Yeti Rambler 25 oz water bottle!
- Find the Missouri Wine Challenge: Follow the Missouri State Fair on Facebook and look out for “Find the Missouri Wine” posts during Fair time! Find the wine logo on the Fairgrounds and win Grandstand and State Fair Arena tickets. Don’t hesitate, only the first to make it there will win!
