Deadline to apply

  • Application & required materials must be submitted by December 31, 2020.
  • Qualified applicants will be contacted after January 1 and asked to participate in an interview on the fairgrounds and complete a writing and design exercise, as well as submit a portfolio of work.

Marketing Internship

Who should apply?

College students pursuing a major in communications, public relations, agriculture, advertising or journalism, looking for real-life experiences. Ideal candidates are passionate about agriculture and creative communications, detailed-oriented, thrive under pressure and find the opportunity in every challenge!

Pay & Benefits

  • Entry level position pays minimum wage, currently $9.45
    per hour.
  • Average of 40 hours a week & 40+ hours a week during the
    11-day Fair.
  • The internship will begin June 1, 2021 and end
    August 22, 2021.
  • Limited meals may be provided during the 11-day Fair.
  • Free housing can be included on the Fairgrounds, which
    consists of one bedroom and bathroom.

The Experience

Duties may include:

  • Media relations
  • Special event & contest planning/execution
  • Public relations activities including extensive eblast & press release writing
  • Social media administration
  • Corresponding with a variety & types of people via telephone, email and direct mail
  • Agriculture education opportunities
  • Promotional materials design & distribution
  • General office work & other duties as assigned

Youth in Agriculture Internship

Who should apply?

College students pursuing a major in communications, public
relations, agriculture, advertising or journalism, looking for
real-life experiences. Ideal candidates are passionate about
agriculture and creative communications, detailed-oriented,
thrive under pressure and find the opportunity in every
challenge! Livestock showing experience preferred.

Pay & Benefits

  • Entry level position pays $1,000.
  • Average 40+ hours a week during the 11-day Fair.
  • The internship will begin August 9, 2021 and end August 22, 2021.
  • Lodging in the Missouri State Fair Dormitory available.

The Experience

Duties may include:

  • Attend committee meeting held early summer 2021.
  • Interview Grand and Reserve Grand Champion winners.
  • Public relation activities including press release writing.
  • Schedule interviews with local media and exhibitors.
  • Assist exhibitors with calls to hometown supporters.
  • Keep an accurate accounting of all hometown support pledge and/or paid.
  • Assist with youth dance and coordinating the Sale of Champions.
  • Develop the Sale of Champions program.
  • Assist in writing script for auctioneer & master of ceremonies.
  • General office work & other duties as assigned.
