General Rules and Regulations

The following events will be eligible for points:

  • Open Beef Carcass Show
  • Growth and Quality Barrow Classic
  • Open Lamb Carcass Show
  • Open Meat Goat Carcass Show

Missouri Soybean Merchandising Council prize money will be included in the exhibitors premium money check from the Missouri State Fair. The following will be awarded:

  • $500 to the highest placing FFA Chapter
  • $500 to the highest placing 4-H County
  • $100 to the highest placing Junior FFA Exhibitor in the Beef Carcass show, Quality Barrow show, Lamb carcass show and Open Meat Goat Carcass show.
  • $100 to the highest placing Junior 4-H Exhibitor in the Beef Carcass show, Quality Barrow show, Lamb carcass show and Open Meat Goat Carcass show.
  1. The rules and regulations of the eligible events apply and take precedent over all rules and regulations stated here.
  2. Open to all FFA Chapters and 4-H Clubs in Missouri. Exhibitors must be entered as a Junior Exhibitor, participating as a member of a FFA Chapter or 4-H Club.
  3. All Junior Exhibitors must mark either 4-H or FFA on entry card at weigh in and write the county, club and chapter (if applicable) on the card. No registration by 4-H Club or FFA Chapter is required. Entry into the sweepstakes is automatic.
  4. FFA Chapters will compete as individual chapters. Prize money will be awarded and can be used as the FFA Chapter chooses.
  5. 4-H Clubs will compete as a county wide club. All clubs in the county will have their points added together for a total score. A club can only compete with one county. 4-H Clubs can use the money on a county wide basis as the winning clubs decide.
  6. Awards presentation will take place on Saturday, August 22, 2026, in the Mohler Assembly Hall at 10:30 am.
  7. A chapter or club tie will be broken using the following criteria in order. If a tie still exists we’ll go to the next one on the list and so on.
    • Highest number of exhibitors in chapter or county wide 4-H Club.
    • Highest number of exhibitors that showed in the Beef Carcass show.
    • Highest number of exhibitors that showed in the Quality Barrow show.
    • Highest number of exhibitors that showed in the Lamb Carcass Show.
  8. A junior exhibitor tie will be broken using the following criteria in order.
    • Individual that exhibits the most animals in the carcass shows.
    • Highest placing carcass in the final results.

Points will be awarded on a weighted basis as outlined below.

The point system will be evaluated yearly to ensure fairness. Adjustments will be made as warranted.

Point System

  1. 1 point will be awarded for exhibiting a lamb or meat goat and 2 points for exhibiting a Quality Barrow and 3 points for exhibiting a beef.
  2. If a Junior Exhibitor has the Overall Grand Champion Carcass they will be awarded 10 additional points and the Reserve Grand Champion Carcass overall will be awarded 5 additional points per show.

Beef Carcass Show Points

Lean Live Class

  • 1A through 1E: 2 points for 1st and 1 point for 2nd in each of those classes
  • Lean Retail Division Champion: 10 points and Lean Retail Division Reserve Champion: 5 points
  • Quality Hotel Live Class
  • 2A through 2E: 2 points for 1st and 1 point for 2nd in each of those classes
  • Quality Hotel-Restaurant Division Champion: 10 points and Quality Hotel-Restaurant Division Reserve Champion: 5 points

Carcass Placing:

  • Lean Retail each class 1-10; 10 points for 1st, 9 points for 2nd, 8 points for 3rd, 7 points for 4th, 6 points for 5th, 5 points for 6th, 4 points for 7th, 3 points for 8th, 2 points for 9th, and 1 point for 10th, respectively.
  • Hotel Class each class 1-10; 10 points for 1st, 9 points for 2nd, 8 points for 3rd, 7 points for 4th, 6 points for 5th, 5 points for 6th, 4 points for 7th, 3 points for 8th, 2 points for 9th, and 1 point for 10th, respectively.

Growth and Quality Barrow Classic Points

  • Class 91-95 On-Hoof: 2 points for 1st and 1 point for 2nd in each of those classes.
  • Champion on Hoof 10 points and Reserve Champion on Hoof 5 points

Carcass Placing:

  • Class 101: Placing 1-10, 10 points for 1st, 9 points for 2nd, 8 points for 3rd, 7 points for 4th, 6 points for 5th, 5 points for 6th, 4 points for 7th, 3 points for 8th, 2 points for 9th, and 1 point for 10th respectively.

Lamb Carcass Show Points

  • Class 230-235 On-Hoof: 2 points for 1st and 1 point for 2nd in each of those classes.
  • Champion On-Hoof 10 points and Reserve Champion On-Hoof 5 points.

Carcass Placing:

  • Class 240: Placing 1-10, 10 points for 1st, 9 points for 2nd, 8 points for 3rd, 7 points for 4th, 6 point for 5th, 5 points for 6th, 4 points for 7th, 3 points for 8th, 2 points for 9th, and 1 point for 10th respectively.

Meat Goat Carcass Show Points

  • Class 51-60 On-Hoof: 2 points for 1st and 1 point for 2nd in each of those classes.
  • Champion On-Hoof 10 points and Reserve Champion On-Hoof 5 points.

Carcass Placing:

  • Class 65: Placing 1-10, 10 points for 1st, 9 points for 2nd, 8 points for 3rd, 7 points for 4th, 6 point for 5th, 5 points for 6th, 4 points for 7th, 3 points for 8th, 2 points for 9th, and 1 point for 10th respectively.
